Sussex County Emergency Medical Services is a government facility that provides life support services to the community of Sussex County, Del. The agency offers services through a staff of more than 100 paramedical and support personnel to the community spread on an area of more than 900 square miles. It is a nontransporting agency and works in coordination with the fire department, volunteer ambulance services, hospitals, and state and local police. The agency has a hazardous materials medical response team that provides assistance with chemical identification, safety, air monitoring, medical monitoring, patient care and decontamination to victims of hazardous materials accidents. Sussex County Emergency Medical Services is a part of the Delaware statewide paramedic program. Its office is located in Georgetown, Del.
