It's not just about fires for the Maplewood Fire Department. They're also busy with fire prevention and handling non-fire-related emergencies. Their fire prevention bureau issues fire safety permits and conducts fire inspections, in addition to other duties. The fire department also heads the town's office of emergency management, which uses federal and state resources to maintain an emergency preparedness plan.
