Key Metal Refining LLC (KMR) buys scrap catalytic converters as the raw material source for its platinum group metal sales generated through its recovery and refining process. KMR is a subsidiary of catalyst smelting giant DOWA Metals and Mining Co. DOWA Holdings Co., Ltd., has annual revenues approaching $4 billion USD is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, and was established over 130 years ago. KMR de-cans all of the catalytic converters it purchases at its plant in Hainesport New Jersey. The material is refined and smelted by DOWA in Japan.
