A Charity to Help Our NeighborsHometown Heroes is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization built on the idea of paying it forward. Founded in 2008, Hometown Heroes was created because we believe our community needs a grass roots organization that is poised to take immediate action in times of need. Our mission is to provide assistance to any individual or family regardless of ethnicity, gender, or age, who suddenly find themselves in a crisis.We also provide a platform for other individuals and organizations to raise funds or awareness for unique causes that they may not be able to facilitate on their own.Recent community issues that Hometown Heroes has provided assistance with:HomelessnessDomestic ViolenceDrug AbuseDisabilityProviding food to the elderlyAssistance for new mothers with nowhere to turnBehind Our Non ProfitHometown Heroes has an all-volunteer Board of Trustees, as well as a full-time Executive Director to grow the organization throughout the United States. Funding is provided by donations from the general public and through fundraising efforts, which in the past have included an awards dinner to recognize individuals who have provided assistance to Hometown Heroes, a miniature golf outing, and benefits for other local organizations.Restore the Shore and Other ProjectsHometown Heroes was chosen to lead the Restore the Shore Hurricane Sandy relief campaign, and we have raised thousands of dollars to help residents with everything from bills, to replacement furniture, to security deposits on new homes. Besides Restore the Shore, we have provided food for the elderly, assistance for new mothers, help to residents facing disability and homelessnessand, in 2009, an expenses-paid funeral to the family of a woman killed in a house fire.In addition to delivering necessary funds, Hometown Heroes strives to match our neighbors in need with professionals available to provide pro bono services. We appreciate monetary donations, as well as donations of services like medical care for our neighbors who are unable to afford it.
