Holmdel operates under the Township Committee form of government. Five committee members are elected at large for three-year, overlapping terms. The committee selects the township mayor at the annual reorganization meeting. The committee meets for regular meetings on the first and third Thursdays of the month in the Meeting Room at Town Hall. Meetings begin at 7pm. The following departments are located inside Town Hall: Board of Health and Registrar; Township Clerk; Construction and Code Enforcement; Municipal Court and Clerk; Library; Planning and Zoning Board; Recreation and Parks; Tax Assessor and Tax Collector; Police; Finance and Purchasing; Administrator; and the Board of Education.
