The squad began in 1936, with only six members of the fire company traveling to get first aid training in Somerville. After the 10 weeks of training were complete, they began to work together to buy an ambulance. They incorporated in 1941, and in 1974, as the squad continued to grow, they opened the official building where it sits on Route 202. The squad now has qualified drivers who are required to have CPR training, and EMTs who are required to attend many other courses. The squad also has a Junior Squad consisting of young men and women, ages 16 to 18. The squad is always looking for new volunteers to be part of the squad.
