The Bris Avrohom of Fair Lawn is one of four Bris Avrohom centers in New Jersey. It is an affiliate of the worldwide Chabad-Lubavitch Hassidic movement. The synagogue is open to Jews of any walks of life but caters to Russian Jews in particular, often re-acquainting them with Jewish heritage and customs they were barred from practicing in the Former Soviet Union. A common practice at Bris Avrohom, which means "Covenant of Abraham" in Yiddish, is holding Jewish bar mitzvahs and wedding for those who couldn't have them when they were younger.
Bris Avrohom of Fair Lawn also holds Torah classes, Shabbat dinners, Hebrew School, a Jewish women's circle and youth activities. The facilities include a basketball court and a playground.
