Banyan School is a private, nonprofit, state approved elementary and middle school for students with primary learning disabilities. These include dyslexia, attention deficit disorder, visual and spatial processing difficulties, auditory processing difficulties, speech and language difficulties, short-and long-term memory difficulties, reading comprehension and decoding difficulties, poor organizational and study skills and poor social skills. The curriculum focus of the school s program is to provide individualized instruction within a small group setting. Banyan s professionally trained staff uses multisensory methods and a wide range of instructional materials. Its students receive instruction in decoding, reading, language arts, writing, learning strategies, science and social studies. In addition, students receive social skills training, art, music, health and physical education. The school is located in Fairfield, N.J.
