The Waste Management Division, governed by the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, is responsible for the management and disposal of wastes. The division also performs various remediation procedures to restore contaminated sites. Its reporting and information management section processes hazardous waste manifests and notification forms. The Waste Management Division offers emergency response services for petroleum and hazardous waste spills. The division is additionally responsible for the inspection of automobile salvage yards, asbestos disposal, and leaking underground and aboveground storage tanks. It develops regulations and policies for the management of used oil. The Waste Management Division oversees the long-term remediation of petroleum contaminated sites.
