I love being a Child and Adolescent psychiatrist. I think that what makes humans think, feel and behave as we do is an amazing mystery that we will never quite fully understand. Talking with people and trying to understand what they experience so that I can try to help them is challenging, but also so very rewarding. I have always loved working with children. I love the way they think, learn and process the world around them. I feel that it is my passion to care for them, and my mission to be an advocate for them in a world in which they have little control. In working at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, I have found that my many years of clinical work in all kinds of mental health settings and communities has allowed me to be a better teacher and mentor to the students, doctors in training, and my colleagues. I have been able to develop programs and to make changes that I hope create better experiences for the patients and families, and keep the quality of our work at the highest level. I am proud of the teams I work with. I appreciate the expertise and collegiality available to me, and I feel privileged to be working here with them.
