From the first Fordson sold out of the family barn to today... Chappell Tractor continues to treat all customers like gold. Our great-grand father, Perley, liked machines. Back in the thirties he was one of the first dairy farmers (way up in Clarkesville, New Hampshire) to own a tractor. After the family moved down to Milford, his son, and our grand father George, figured they might start selling tractors out of the family barn (George really liked machines). Perley had the knack of one liners. Many hold true today. One in particular comes to mind, "Hope milk gets so scarce you have to have a prescription to get any." George instilled a work ethic geared to customer satisfaction and loyalty. He felt if we treated people right they would continue to come back. That is why at Chappell Tractor we sell and service the best brands. Find new and used bulldozers, compact tractors, crawler excavators, wheel loaders, construction equipment, small mowers, saws, trimmers and blowers by Kubota, New Holland and Stihl. In 1960, the dealership moved to a 36 x 72 (a whopping 3, 000 sq. ft.) cement block building on Route 13. The development of Route 101 in 1970 forced a move to a 7, 200 sq. ft. structural steel building up the road with an addition of a lawn and garden showroom that followed not too long after. In 1985 our fathers (Kent and Roger Chappell) built the unique post and beam building we are in now. It was a big leap to go from 9, 840 sq. ft. to almost 25, 000 sq. ft. but they were up for the challenge! It really paid off as all customer groups learned to enjoy the new feel of a post and beam facility. In 1994, Chappell Tractor Sales purchased B-B Chain from retiring Bob Bragdon, who founded and operated B-B Chain since 1965. Today we operate B-B Chain from both Chappell Tractor locations and have grown to four employees. Our drivers deliver orders to more than 720 towns in the New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Vermont area. B-B Chain has grown out of the original space and will move in to the new addition toward the front of the building. Come in an see what Jason and the Boys have done with the place. Visit B-B Chain's website to learn more. In 1998 the company expanded even further by opening a second location on Route 125 in Brentwood. Our new Chappell Tractor East started with an 8, 000 sq. ft. structural steel building. In 2002, we doubled the shop and showroom space by adding another 9, 600 sq. ft. complete with a post and beam front porch and entry way. In September 2005, we began an expansion project which would add 14, 000 sq. ft. to our existing dealership on 454 Route 13 in Milford, NH. The expansion was completed during the summer of 2006, with a grand opening. The new facility is home to Chappell Tractor and BB Chain. This provides us with a new tractor showroom, lawn and garden showroom and added space for the newest department, Outfitters by Chappell, to sell a complete line of clothing, shoes and boots for the company. Brad and I wanted to follow in the family footsteps by staying unique and to continue to provide customers the personal attention they deserve. We have a one of a kind indoor showroom for the equipment industry. Additionally, our lawn and garden section has grown with the expansion, enhancing our ability to help people with their questions and find the right new or used tractor or equipment for their needs the first time. We have enjoyed serving you and hope you continue to notice the difference at Chappell Tractor. For over fifty years, Chappell Tractor, Chappell Tractor East and B-B Chain have been known for our dedication to serving all customers with the best quality agricultural products from Kubota, New Holland and Stihl, knowledgeable construction equipment parts and certified service departments.
