Truckee Meadows Community College was founded in 1979, and operated under the name of Western Nevada Community College. It offers a wide range of academic and university transfer programs; occupational training and career enhancement workshops; and more than 50 degree and certificate programs. The college serves over 12,000 students through various class types, such as lectures, laboratory, hands-on, television, one-day workshops and Internet classes. Truckee Meadows Community College offers a range of programs in construction management, criminal justice and culinary arts; dental assisting and dental hygiene; education teacher preparation and e-learning; emergency medical services and environmental sciences. Located in Reno, Nev., the college also provides various campus resources, such as bookstore, child care center, computer labs, library, and tutoring and student services.
