History
Reno Ice: The Jennifer M. O'Neal Community Ice Arena opened its doors in January of 2021 to an eager and welcoming community. We are operated by The Greater Reno Community Ice Skating Association (GRCISA), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the goal of promoting affordable ice-skating-related sports and recreation. The arena is a year-round, indoor, state-of-the-art facility. We are currently operating one NHL size rink and actively fundraising for a second NHL size rink. We are a full-service ice arena including, food concessions, skate sharpening, skate rentals, and a pro shop. Reno Ice hosts many programs and events such as youth and adult hockey and figure skating programs, public skating, private lessons for figure skating and hockey, school field trips, homeschool skating programs, birthday parties, sled hockey, Reno Hockey Academy, and more to come.
Specialties
The team at Reno Ice has worked hard to secure funding for a scholarship program where no child will be denied the opportunity to play ice sports based on their ability to pay. Thanks to the generosity of Scheels, that mission has been accomplished and applications are being accepted for the Scheels Scholarship Program. The success of this state-of-the-art rink is due to the assiduity of a lot of people, most notably our board of directors: Joel Grace, Cameron Sorenson, Chris O'Neal, and Jamie Winter. Without the hard work of these determined community members, we would not be enjoying the fun, competition, skill-building, and community building that this arena offers.
