History
The Food Bank of Northern Nevada was founded in 1982 and incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in 1983. The Food Bank is a member of Feeding America and was named Food Bank of the Year by Feeding America in 2013.

Our mission: Feeding the hungry today and solving hunger for tomorrow through community partnership. In northern Nevada, 1 in 5 people is food insecure. The Food Bank of Northern Nevada is here to help those in our community who aren't sure where their next meal may come from. The Food Bank serves 101,000 people each month through a network of 136 partner agencies, as well as direct service programs. More than half of the people we serve are children and seniors. In fact, in northern Nevada, 1 in 4 children lives in a food insecure household. Our service area covers 90,000 square miles encompassing 13 counties in northern Nevada, as well as 8 California counties on the eastern slope of the Sierra. Direct service programs include: Mobile Pantry - providing fresh produce to clients right in their neighborhood through a mobile distribution model Kids Cafe Dinner Program - Providing a FREE dinner to all youth ages 1-18 throughout the school year in several locations around the Reno/Sparks area Kids Cafe Summer Meals - A FREE lunch provided during the summer break served to any child ages 1-18 at a variety of locations -mostly parks- throughout Reno/Sparks SNAP Outreach - This program is designed to assist clients with completing the application and interview process involved in applying for SNAP (food stamps) benefits Senior Food Boxes - This program provides a monthly box of supplemental food to seniors Make a difference.
