Established in 1997, Walnut Middle School provides academic instructions to more than 750 students in grades six through eight. The school has various clubs and organizations, such as fishing, spelling bee, student council, science Olympiad, academic quiz bowl, fantasy football and foreign language clubs. It provides academic education in various subjects, including social studies, language arts, math, science, technology, foreign language, English, fine arts, character education, and health and physical education. In addition, the school provides a variety of athletic activities that include football, basketball, volleyball, wrestling, cross country, and track and field. Walnut Middle School is governed by the Grand Island Public Schools and is located in Grand Island, Neb.
