Ridder Hereford Ranch started when Theodore and Elizabeth Ridder moved from northeast Nebraska to the Sandhills west of Callaway in 1907, searching for land and a home to raise their growing family. Their son Paul was the youngest of 12 children, among them a dentist, two Catholic Sisters, an Interior Designer, a Naval Aviator instructor, ranchers, and a machinist. Paul and Marianne's son John, the oldest of four children, and his wife Mary now operate Ridder Hereford Ranch along with their six children. Ridder Hereford Ranch's sole business is raising efficient, productive, carcass-superior Hereford bulls and females for cow calf ranchers. Ridder Ranch Tours has hosted tour guests from several states as well as the Ukraine, Russia, India, Namibia, and Denmark. Opening up our Sandhills prairie pastures to visitors has been a great avenue to meeting people from interesting walks of life and sharing our family's ranch life with persons from largely urban homes. We introduce guests to pristine pastures, amazingly beautiful landscapes, a large variety of wildlife here in the heartland of America, and the tremendous Hereford breed.
