History
American Arborist Wood Products was established in 2014 as a sister company to American Arborist, with the aim of diverting logs from the landfill or wood chipper. We ran our Lucas Mill and stored our slabs out of the same open-air lot where the tree service's vehicles parked at the end of the day. To offer a more comfortable shopping experience, we moved our slab inventory to a building in downtown Omaha's New North Makerhood in 2018. When American Arborist changed ownership in 2021, we moved the milling operation there as well. Having a shop space enabled us to acquire a vacuum kiln, exponentially speeding up our drying time, as well as a bandsaw mill to more efficiently process smaller logs. In 2022, to better reflect our growing partnerships with additional tree companies, we changed the business name to Omaha Wood Company. We continue to focus on salvaging urban wood to give it a second life as unique lumber.
