The Nebraska Crime Commission develops plans and coordinates activities related to the improvement of criminal justice administration between state and local agencies. The commission s uniform crime reporting division maintains annual crime and arrest statistics. It provides advice and direction on issues related to data sharing and the use of information technology among criminal justice agencies. The Nebraska Crime Commission also has a jail standards division that is responsible for the promulgation and enforcement of standards for the maintenance, operation and construction of adult and juvenile criminal detention facilities. The commission administers federal and state aid programs in the areas of violent crime, law enforcement, victim assistance, juvenile justice, delinquency prevention and criminal justice information systems.
