History
Missoula Youth Fencing Association was established by our current director, Laura Lee, in the fall of 2007. Laura's two sons had shown an interest in fencing a couple of years earlier and pursuing this interest quickly brought about the realization that fencing in Montana typically means posts, poles, and barbed wire. Using the University of Montana Fencing Club as a resource, Laura was able to find an instructor for her two sons. It was not long before word got around that some young people in Missoula were playing with swords, with their parents' permission! So, with teachers wanting more students, and many young people looking for a way to learn fencing in Montana, the Missoula Youth Fencing Association was born. We started out offering limited fencing classes in rented gyms all over Missoula. Specialties
Our mission is to promote the modern sport of Olympic fencing in Western Montana through high-quality coaching and competition. We offer classes, workshops, and lessons for all ages and levels on a weekly rolling basis.
