Located in Manhattan, Kan., the Department of Grain Science & Industry operates under the Kansas State University. Founded in 1910, it offers a range of undergraduate, graduate, certificate and distance learning programs in food science education. The department s graduate program includes classes in the areas of grain storage, handling, processing and utilization, as well as cereal chemistry. The Department of Grain Science & Industry partners with various organizations, including the American Institute of Baking (AIB) and the Grain Marketing and Production Research Center (GMPRC). The Kansas State University is one of the first land-grant institutions in the United States that was founded in 1863 and enrolls more than 23,000 students in over 300 programs.
