Established in 1949, the Warrensburg Police Department works to provide safety and security and protect lives and property through crime prevention and law enforcement. It maintains patrol, traffic and K-9 divisions, as well as has a special emergency response team. The department s animal shelter division houses stray and impounded animals and enforces animal law. The Warrensburg Police Department s investigation division handles cases of robbery, arson, rape, child abuse, forgery, homicide, narcotics and felony. It also processes crime scenes, collects evidence, executes search warrants, maintains evidence room, submits evidences to crime lab, and processes and submits fingerprint cards to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Missouri State Highway Patrol criminal records division. The Warrensburg Police Department also supports the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program, which is a classroom program that helps to prevent drug abuse and violence among children. The department employs more than 30 full-time sworn officers. It is located in Warrensburg, Mo.
