History
In 2015, several congregations in the Springfield area severed ties with the Presbyterian Church (USA) in protest over the national church's support for marriage and gender equality. Trinity was formed as a faith community by members from those congregations who felt there was a place in Springfield for faithful Christians who felt led by God to love and welcome all people, including those in the LGBTQ+ community, in every part of church life. This core value of inclusion and diversity, paired with a strong belief in the importance of mission and service, has led Trinity to become a vibrant community of faith where all are wanted, welcomed, and loved.
Specialties
Trinity Presbyterian Church is a community of people seeking to live life in the rhythm of God's Kingdom. We welcome all on this journey with us, for we believe we are made stronger by those of differing social and economic backgrounds, gender identities, political viewpoints, and racial & ethnic backgrounds. We believe God calls us all and welcomes us with grace and love. We respond to that grace with deep gratitude, expressed in our worship, service, and study. Trinity Presbyterian Church is proudly and purposely affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), for we know Christ calls us to unity. Through our connection with the broader church we find joy, hope, and a strong witness to God's redemptive work in the world.
