Established in 1931, the Missouri State Highway Patrol is a full-service, accredited law enforcement agency that works towards the enforcement of traffic laws and promotion of safety on highways. It undertakes various law enforcement duties, including motor vehicle inspection, commercial vehicle enforcement, drivers license examinations, criminal investigations and criminal laboratory analysis and research. In addition, the agency provides public education and law enforcement training services. The Missouri State Highway Patrol maintains bureaus of field operations and aircraft. The agency operates the statistical analysis center and utilizes the statewide traffic accident reporting system. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is located in St. Joseph, Mo.
