History
Dr. C. Rex Witherspoon, founder of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Group, Ltd., has been practicing in Springfield since 1952. He grew up in Springfield and did active duty in the U.S. Navy. He attended Drury University in Springfield, completed his dental education at Washington University School of Dental Medicine, his post-graduate in Oral Surgery at University of Chicago and his Oral Surgery Fellowship with Dr. G. Farrell Webb in Kansas City. In addition to his vast experience in oral and maxillofacial surgery, Dr. Witherspoon aided in the founding of St. John's Regional Health Center's Oncology (Cancer Care) Dental Support Program. He has served a decade as editor of the Missouri Dental Journal; as president of the Missouri and Midwestern Associations of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, is a fellow of the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. In addition, Dr. Witherspoon has been honored as Dentist of the Year in Missouri.
