Meramec Caverns, located in Stanton, Mo., is a tourist attraction consisting of a series of underground caves. It was opened to the public in 1935. Tours of the caverns are conducted for individuals and groups. The caverns provide a wide range of amenities to tourists, including a gift shop, a restaurant, a snack bar, a museum and a ballroom. The ballroom facilities are used for various private and public events, such as religious services and music concerts. Additionally, a wide range of amenities are provided outside the caverns, such as campgrounds, a motel, boat and canoe trips. Tourists are also offered opportunity to mine for gold at the Meramec Mining Company.
