The Public Works Division is charged with maintaining the city's street and sidewalk system, trash and recycling, municipal facilities, snow removal and trees. It also administers and oversees private construction activities which take place in the public right-of-way.
The Public Works Division implements the city's capital improvement program, which includes the design and rehabilitation of streets and pedestrian infrastructure.
Additionally the public works administrator oversees the sewer lateral program, which is paid for by residents to cover a portion of qualifying expenses to repair sewer laterals.
The division provides internal services to other city employees by maintaining all government buildings and the fleet of vehicles. It strives to provide excellent service to the residents of the City of Olivette.
The staff consists of the director of public services, public works administrator, lead operator, two equipment operators/laborers, one mechanic and office manager who is a member of the staff as well. Planning and coordination of efforts are performed on a continual basis in order to maintain the performance and productivity levels of the staff.
