The O Fallon Municipal Court is the judicial branch of the city government of O Fallon, Mo. It is a qualified division of the St. Charles County Circuit Court. The municipal court adjudicates traffic and other ordinance violations primarily filed by the O'Fallon Police Department and code enforcement officers. The mission of the municipal court is to treat the residents who appear in a timely, courteous and efficient manner and assure them a fair and impartial disposition of their case. People who receive a ticket for a municipal ordinance violation have certain rights, including an appearance in court, opportunity to pay tickets without a court appearance, legal representation, appointment of counsel if jail is a potential punishment, opportunity to explain special circumstance to the judge with guilty pleas before penalty is imposed and right to a trial and appeal. The court must prominently post at the place where fines are to be paid a schedule of fees for violations.
