Founded in 1918, the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis mission is to assist African Americans and other minorities achieve economic self-reliance, parity, power and civil rights. Established in 1910, The Urban League is the nation's oldest and largest community- based movement devoted to empowering African Americans to enter the economic and social mainstream. Headquartered in New York City, the National Urban League has more than 100 local affiliates located in 35 states providing direct services to more than 2 million people through programs, advocacy and research.
