Founded in 1988, KMCI is an independent station that serves the Kansas City television market. It broadcasts various types of programs, such as sitcoms, cartoons, reality and court shows, movies, talk shows and sports. The television station is branded as 38 The Spot and broadcasts special programs for men of age 18 up to 34. It broadcasts a wide range of programs, including The Simpsons, That 70s Show, Malcolm in the Middle, The King of Queens and a live, nightly sports-talk program. The television station also has a digital transmitting facility. KMCI is owned by The E. W. Scripps Company and is a secondary affiliate of the National Broadcasting Company.
