The East Saint Louis Police Department works to safeguard the lives and property of residents, businesses and visitors, as well as maintain social law and order. Its support services division provides support services for the departmental operations of communication section, records management and fleet maintenance. The department also operates Bureau of Investigations division that offers training services in the areas of arson, homicide, criminal sexual assault, fraud and forgery. The East Saint Louis Police Department conducts investigations, generates and maintains the records of reported crimes and police-related incidents, and responds to accidents, natural disasters and civil disorders. It is governed by the City of East St. Louis, Ill., which additionally manages fire, purchasing, parks and transportation departments.
