Chillicothe Municipal Utilities is owned by the residents of Chillicothe, Mo., and offers electricity, water, wastewater removal, refuse collection and Internet services. It is governed by a Board of Public Works, a nonpartisan group appointed by the mayor. Its electric department supplies electricity to more than 4,700 electric customers with over five substations. The department s water supply division provides more than 6 million gallons each day to over 4,000 water customers and has nearly 90 miles of water line. Its wastewater treatment plant has more than 70 miles of sewer line. Chillicothe Municipal Utilities refuse department offers a curbside recycling program. Its Internet department is a full-service Internet provider that offers dialup, wireless and Web hosting services.
