Established in 1895, Central High School is one of the oldest and largest high schools, located in St. Joseph, Mo. The school enrolls more than 1,600 students and is governed by St. Joseph School District. It offers classes from kindergarten grades nine through 12. Its curriculum includes a wide range of subjects, including English, math, science, history, social science, visual and performing arts, vocational education, industrial technology, consumer science, physical education and elective options. Central High School provides various extracurricular activities, such as bands, choirs, music, arts and crafts, and operates clubs, including chess and drama clubs, environmental, Spanish and French clubs, National Honor Society, youth alive, and astronomy club. It additionally offers a variety of athletic programs, such as football, tennis, volleyball, track, basketball, cross-country, golf, soccer, swimming, wrestling and softball. The school has a fully equipped library, a media center and a computer lab.
