The Arcadia Academy has been towering over the Acadia Valley for over 150 years. The original Academy was built in 1846 as a Methodist High School by Jerome C. Berryman. During the civil war it served as a Union hospital from 1861-1863. In 1877 the Ursuline nuns purchased the campus and turned it into a girls school. The Ursuline Academy operated as a school until the last graduating class of 1971. Now under private ownership, the Academy has become a wedding venue, restaurant, and Historically Registered Landmark. St. Joseph's Chapel resides on campus and has some of the most beautiful stained glass windows in the world, each window a unique work of art. The Gymnasium has a unique roof truss system designed in Germany and seats up to 250 people for parties, receptions, or group events. Tours are available upon request, completely free and donation based. We currently operate two on-site BNBs, one inside our Priest House with 5 rooms, and one inside our Laundry House, with 4 rooms.
