My journey to becoming a doctor, I would say, started really early on with both my parents being nurses. I was introduced to the medical field through them. I did some shadowing in the operating room in high school and fell in love with surgery at that point, and then picked up an interest in neuroscience in my undergrad classes. And when I got to med school, those two things really combined to focus my interest on neurosurgery. I really chose neurosurgery because I found the problems that those patients were dealing with very difficult and being able to help and ease the suffering or help people with those issues, I found really meaningful.
