The Ridgeland Fire Department provides fire suppression, rescue, emergency medical care, hazardous material mitigation, incident investigation and public education services. It utilizes various pumper, ladder, and rescue trucks and boats, as well as support vehicles. The department is comprised of more than 60 employees. The Ridgeland Fire Department responds to fire incidents in buildings, vehicles, grass, woods and gardens, as well as explosions, visible smoke, lightning and controlled burns. It also offers response for cases related to extrication of people trapped in confined spaces resulting from motor vehicle collision and structural and trench collapse. The department rescues people lost on land and water and from locked vehicles and stuck elevators. The Ridgeland Fire Department conducts fire and life safety inspections for residences. It is governed by the City of Ridgeland in Mississippi.
