Precoat Metals, located in Jackson, Miss., is a regional coil coating plant, owned and operated by its parent company, Precoat Metals, which maintains headquarters in St. Louis. Precoat is one of the largest coaters of building products in the United States. It also has substantial interests in transportation and the air conditioning and ventilation markets and is the largest independent coil coater of container products. Its Jackson plant, identified as Line #6, is a is a 62' wide, tandem line. The plant s minimum coil width capability is 24'. Jackson can accommodate coils as large as 60,000 lbs and its coil diameters may be from 37' to 78' on mandrels of 20' and 24'. The plant is capable of running both steel and aluminum. The minimum gauge, for steel, is .008', while the maximum for steel is .057'. For aluminum the minimum gauge is .020' while the maximum is .080' for aluminum. The facility has in-line embossing with a standard stucco pattern, and has in-house slitting capabilities.
