The Mississippi State Rating Bureau is a nonprofit corporation that was established in 194. The bureau conducts on-site surveys to establish equitable property insurance advisory loss costs. It maintains an Audit Department that is responsible for the coding of insurance documents on an optional basis. The Mississippi State Rating Bureau provides improvement statements to municipalities and fire districts. The bureau is also responsible for holding and attending public and municipal meetings pertaining to fire protection. It also oversees and manages the functions of the Mississippi Windstorm Underwriting Association and the Mississippi Residential Property Insurance Underwriting Association. The Mississippi State Rating Bureau reviews automatic sprinkler plans.
