Located in Jackson, Miss., the Mississippi State Oil & Gas Board publicizes and enforces rules to regulate and promote oil and gas drilling, production and storage. The board operates various departments, such as engineering, finance and personnel, geology, hearings administration, information technology, production and well records. It protects the coequal and correlative rights of all owners of interests, and promulgates and enforces rules to regulate the disposal of nonhazardous oil field waste in an environmentally safe manner consistent with federal and state regulations. It offers a wide range of publications, such as Annual Production Report, Oil and Gas Field Map Book, Pipeline Map and Rules and Regulations Book.
