McLane Southern was formed in 1986 when McLane Company merged with Southern Wholesale in Brookhaven, Miss. Since that time, it has grown to be a more than 350,000-square-foot grocery distribution center located on 20-plus acres employing approximately 550 teammates. This division now has annual sales of more than $900 million to more than 1,900 customers in a five state area, which includes all of Mississippi, Louisiana and Arkansas, along with parts of Tennessee and Missouri. From its more than 35 grocery and food service distribution centers, McLane services every state and county in the United States. Additionally, it provides third-party logistics, traffic management and control functions in South America. Services provided by the company include grocery distribution, food service distribution, software solutions, retail services, control label products and novelty items. McLane, a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, employs some 14,000 people nationwide. It is headquartered in Temple, Texas.
