The Delta Research and Extension Center, also known as the Delta Branch Experiment Station, conducts researches on the various species of cotton, rice, soybean, corn and catfish. The center is a part of the Division of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine, which is governed by Mississippi State University. It serves the needs of Montgomery, Carroll, Attala, Holmes, Humphreys and Washington counties in Mississippi. The Delta Research and Extension Center assists to solve crop and aquaculture production problems and transfers new information to area producers. The center is spread over an area of more than 1,650 acres. Its Charles W. Capps, Jr. Entrepreneurial Center is a 375-plus-seat auditorium. The Delta Research and Extension Center operates a library, as well as several laboratories and greenhouses. The center s areas of interest include pathology, fish behavior, nutrition, water quality and economics.
