DeSoto County Schools Board of Education, located in Hernando, Miss., governs more than 25 elementary, intermediate, middle and high schools. It also manages several vocational, technical and alternative education programs. The board serves more than 25,000 students in the DeSoto County School District and employs over 1,700 teachers. The district has various departments, such as business and technology, curriculum, food services, gifted, personnel, and recruitment and parent relations. It also provides professional development, community relations, school safety and security, special education, and transportation departments. DeSoto County Schools are approved by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
