Operational for more than 100 years, Alcorn State University is one of the oldest higher education institutes in the United States. Located in Lorman, Miss., Alcorn offers various associate, baccalaureate, bachelor s, master's and specialist degree programs. The college enrolls more than 5,000 undergraduate and graduate students annually. It is approved by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, National Association of Schools of Music, National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, National League for Nursing, National Association of Industrial Technology, and American Association of Consumer Sciences. Alcron provides more than 40 clubs and organizations, including student government, student newspaper and yearbook clubs, radio station, honor societies, religious, music and theater groups, student council, and special-interest groups. Its athletics programs include baseball, basketball, cross-country, football, golf, tennis, track and field, bowling, cross-country, softball and volleyball.
