History
Designed by architect Charles Frost, the Northwestern Building stands at the South West corner of the St. Paul Farmers Market at 275 E 4th St. Formerly known as The Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis & Omaha Railroad Building, the neo-classical designed building once housed the essential administrative operations for many St. Paul's rail carriers. Today, the Northwestern Building has become a destination for entrepreneurs, artists, and small businesses participating in, and serving the creative fields. Drawn by the unique spaces, Notably, Golden's Deli has occupied the first floor for the past 10 years. Starting out in a small corner, owner Jim Golden and his team have grown to occupy nearly the entire first floor of the property. This is the spirit that is embodied by the tenants of the Northwestern Building.
