In 1954, Len Tweten opened Magnolia Stationers and Camera Shop in the Magnolia district of Seattle. By the mid-1960s, the transition to audio specialty business was complete and the business was renamed Magnolia Hi-Fi. In December 2000, Magnolia Audio Video was acquired by Best Buy as an independently operated, wholly-owned subsidiary. In Summer 2003, the company changed its name from Magnolia Hi-Fi to Magnolia Audio Video, reflecting the new era of electronic entertainment. In May 2004, the first Magnolia Home Theater stores opened. Magnolia Home Theater stores can now be found within select Best Buy locations across the country.
