When Inver Hills Community College opened in 1970, it had only 20 degree options. Today, the college offers courses in 60 academic disciplines, has 37 associate degree programs and 22 certification programs. A majority of the students attending Inver Hills are first-generation students, and a fifth of the college's population are minority students. The college offers roughly 2,000 different classes over the course of a year.
