Founded in 1963, Guthrie Theater is a center for theater performance, production, education and professional training. The theater hosts a variety of plays of dramatic literature, as well as develops the work of contemporary playwrights. It encourages performances by new artists. The theater has also hosted various plays that include Hamlet, Little House on the Prairie, A View from the Bridge, The Caretaker, and A Christmas Carol. It conducts a variety of concerts, classes and lectures. Guthrie Theater s facilities maintain a lounge, cafe and restaurants, lobbies and rehearsal rooms. Additionally, it hosts a variety of events that includes corporate meetings, cocktail party and dinners. The theater maintains a gift shop and is located in Minneapolis.
