The County Attorney is elected by the residents of Anoka County. Some of the duties of this office are to represent the people in the following areas: prosecution of all felonies which occur in Anoka County; prosecution of all juvenile matters which arise in Anoka County; establishment of paternities, civil commitments, child support enforcement, daycare and foster care licensing and certain guardianships; investigation of public assistance fraud, election law violations and certain white-collar crimes; legal representation of Anoka County, its departments and in land acquisition, employment issues, liability claims, county ordinances, contract negotiations, appeals, expungements and other civil matters involving Anoka County; and support and assistance for victims and witnesses in criminal and juvenile proceedings handled by the county attorney s office.
