Cafesjian's Carousel is a historic and beautifully restored antique carousel located in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Built in 1914 by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company, it is one of only three operating carousels still in its original paint. The carousel features hand-carved horses and chariots, scenic paintings, and a fully restored Wurlitzer 153 band organ. Operated by Our Fair Carousel, a non-profit organization, the carousel offers fun for people of all ages and is a beloved attraction in Como Park.
With its 50-foot platform and 54-foot upper rim, Cafesjian's Carousel is a true gem. Named after Gerard L. Cafesjian, who played a major role in its rescue and restoration, the carousel is suspended from a center pole and weighs 30 tons. Visitors can enjoy a ride on the carousel for a small fee, and children under the age of 1 ride for free with a paying adult. The carousel operates from May through October, weather permitting, and offers free admission on select days. Volunteers play a crucial role in keeping the carousel running smoothly, and donations are welcomed to support the preservation and maintenance of this historic treasure.
