Bancommunity Service Corporation was formed in May 1983, and it obtained the majority of outstanding stocks of The First National Bank of St. Peter in November 1983. The holding company, after acquiring Security Shares, was defined as a multitiered holding company. For tax purposes, the holding company is organized as a C corporation. Bancommunity is organized under the laws of Minnesota. Through its bank subsidiaries FNB and Security State Bank of Mankato, the corporation engages in general commercial banking. In October 2005, Bancommunity Service Corporation took ownership of the merged banking entity of First National Bank Minnesota. With this merger, the assets and liabilities of Security State Bank of Mankato were consolidated into the First National Bank of St. Peter.
