In 1980 Jeff Baumgartner purchased Fuhr Time and Signal Company, renamed it American Time and Signal Company and moved it into an old post office in Dassel, Minn. That same year, he mailed out approximately 16,000 catalogs and emphasized the phrase 'We'll repair your clocks'. By 1981, the business had grown to the point where Baumgartner needed to start adding employees to assist with the clock repair process.
